The most beautiful names
The Quran says: "And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them." (Surah Al-A'raf, 7:180). A hadith reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim mentions ninety-nine names, and promises Paradise to whoever "enumerates" them.
Where this list comes from
The list shown here is the most widely known one, transmitted in a version of the hadith reported by At-Tirmidhi. Scholars have discussed exactly which names it includes, and other names of Allah appear in the Quran and the Sunnah: these 99 names are not a closed list.
How to learn them
Start with five names a day, reading them aloud with their meaning. Flashcard mode hides the meaning: try to recall it before you tap the card. In three weeks, you'll have gone through them all.
And every day, right in your pocket
In the QuranWay app, each of the 99 names has its own page, with a quiz to check what you've remembered.
We make QuranWay. These tools are free, with no sign-up. Whatever depends on you (your location, your settings) stays in your browser: your location is never sent anywhere.
