When does Ramadan 2027 start?

According to the Umm al-Qura calendar, Ramadan 1448 begins on Monday, February 8, 2027 and Eid al-Fitr falls on Tuesday, March 9, 2027, making a month of 29 days. The first night of tarawih prayer is on the evening before the first day of fasting.

Why the date can shift by a day

The month begins with the new crescent moon. The Umm al-Qura calendar sets it by calculation, but many countries and communities wait for the crescent to be sighted or for their religious authorities to announce it. In France, the date is confirmed by the religious authorities, often on the "night of doubt" (nuit du doute). Depending on where you live, Ramadan may therefore start a day apart from the date calculated here.

How long the fast lasts

The fast runs from Fajr to Maghrib. In Paris, on the first day, Fajr is at 06:24 and Maghrib at 17:59 (Muslim World League method), which makes 11 h 35 min of fasting. The length changes every day and from one city to another: choose yours in the tool. If your mosque follows a different angle for Fajr, your suhoor may end several minutes earlier or later.

Dates to note

The last ten nights begin on the evening of the 20th day. Laylat al-Qadr is sought in the odd nights of this period; the 27th night begins on the evening of the 26th day, because the Hijri day begins at sunset.

And every day, right in your pocket

The QuranWay app's calendar shows the start of Ramadan, the last ten nights, Laylat al-Qadr and Eid with a countdown in days, and the app's home screen shows the next prayer with its countdown: handy for iftar.
